Al Wajid - The Finder

This is Acrylic Painting on Canvas, 90x90 cm by Art Noor – Painted in 2021 and exhibited at SpiritFest99 at Dubai Festival City, during the month of Ramadan, the same year.

It is astonishing what men will do when inspired and motivated by the hope of finding the things of the earth they so ardently desire. They sail uncharted seas, endure the scorching heat of the desert, scale the ice-covered mountains, and brave the dangers of a trackless wilderness in hope of discovering the things they diligently seek.

Rumi said, “What You Seek is Seeking You” -  Jesus said, “Ye shall seek, Ye shall find”

Inspired by the name of Allah, Al Wajid - The Finder – the painting is made up of irregular shapes which fit in with one another, coexisting harmoniously, to become part of the larger whole, which is infinite and incomprehensive to the human mind.

It is astonishing the extent humans can go, when inspired and motivated by the hope of finding the things of the earth they so ardently desire, or feel compelled to search. Most of the science is the result of this seeking and searching.  The adventurers sail uncharted seas, endure the scorching heat of the desert, scale the ice-covered mountains, and brave the dangers of a trackless wilderness in hope of discovering what they passionately seek.

Life is an unending quest to search for our true purpose - find and know ourselves. This is the highest level of human need. referred to as self-actualization by Abraham Maslow, in his famed hierarchy of human needs.
