This divine attribute and the name means

 He who is the Ruler of the entire universe

“Now Allah be Exalted THE TRUE KING! There is no God save Him, the Lord of the Throne of Grace.”
(23:116) The Holy Quran

The One who is the king of all beings. The One who is the owner and ruler of this world.
The One who has supreme authority, and who is relied upon by everyone.
The One who has all ruling power over all beings, and is ruled by none.

“Al Malik is the one whose essence and attributes are independent of all existing things, but everything in existence is dependent upon (in need of) Him”. Ghazali

Quran Tells us, Say: O Allah, Master of the Kingdom! Thou givest the kingdom to whomsoever Thou pleasest and takest away the kingdom from whomsoever Thou pleasest, and Thou exaltest whom Thou pleasest and abasest whom Thou pleasest in Thine hand is the good; surety, Thou hast power over all things. The Holy Quran (3:26)
