+Media - Shukran Khalifa Event at WTC Abu Dhabi featuring Live Paintings by Art Noor
Live Painting Event at World Trade Center by Art Noor
The newly built landmark in Abu Dhabi, the World Trade Center has been a host to an art exhibition of contemporary paintings by Art Noor, on the theme of 99 names of Allah.
This exhibition comprises of more than a hundred canvases painted by him over the period of five years on the spiritual and subject on the names of the creator. The paintings are abstract impressionistic
in style and drive their inspiration from the divine attributes of God, as derived from the Holy Quran. They explore the mystical and the sacred, to find the path and balance of elements to connect with the sublime.
The energy and movement along with the rhythm of color in many of the canvases, create unexpected harmonies which can felt by the viewer at a very emotional and spiritual and level.
The exhibition featured a unique improvisation, which involved the visitors to witness and sometimes participate in the process of creation of the painting. A live painting event was organized at the venue and Noor began the work on a large scale canvas titled “Shukran Khalifa”.
It was inspired by Sheikh Mohammed’ initiative to prompt the nation to thank Sheikh Khalifa for his visionary leadership of the nation, towards continued peace and prosperity.
This event which lasted for few days, was attended to by hundreds of visitors, which included diplomats from various countries, art students from various schools and
their teachers, corporate professionals and the tourists. It will be followed by another one in the month of April, details of which will be announced at www.artnoor.com , and will involve a wider audience and participation of visitors from all the seven emirates.
The painting featured a boat shaped like the map of U.A.E, sailing in the sea with two sails, with the painted words – Thanks Khalifa and Shukran Khalifa. The horizon line also depicted as the coast line shows the iconic landmarks from all over the country. It is painted with the technique of pointillism and is potently charged with meaning and metaphor contemplation.
When asked about his thinking behind showing the map of UAE like a boat,
Noor said “Aren’t we all in it? I was always intrigued by the map of UAE, which looked like a crossbreed between the horse and a boat, and presented a perfect metaphor for the subject.
The words- “Thanks Khalifa” are painted on the sails because the sails give direction to the boat. And that is what Sheikh Khalifa has done, by navigating this boat with calm through the turbulence of the waters that surround us.“During the event, a lunch was hosted by World Trade Center and Art Noor to share the event byspecially invited guest from the diplomatic community, Academicians, Professionals and memberof the media. It was attended by the honorable invitees, who socialized and viewed the paintings in the exhibition
